History of E-Sports

Esports also known as E-gaming / Electronic sports is a term which is usually define the competitive video game matches between two professional players. The most competitive games can be categorized in strategy games, first person shooter games or multiplayer online arena.


Although the gaming organisations are developed from long time but E-Sports caught the public eye around year 2000 to 2014 due to large number of tournaments with high prize pools, which include “The International dota 2 Championship” and the “League of Legends Worlds Championship” with the largest number of viewership crossing around 1.5 Million people across the world. The fighting games were generally famous between amateur players but most famous category that emerged was multiplayer online arena, games such as Dota2, counter-strike were caught the public eye,
Around 2013 Korea also gave P.1A-Visa to few professional gamer , P1A visas are given to athletes or teams when they visit any country. This was a huge advancement in gaming community as it encouraged many other people to play E-games

Around the start of 2013 a site named as twitch.tv was launched by gamers to view the pub games which are professional players. This site also covers the matches all around the in the world of E-Sports this caused high number of viewership and revenue to the adverting companies. It is estimated that around 60% of twitch users are from age 16-34. Which includes 80% of males and 20% of female viewers? This encouraged many female users to jump into e-sports. Many female teams for d2 and LOL are made and admins are now organising tournaments for them as well 



In late 2013 with the boom of mobile applications many people started to develop apps which gave dota 2 updates coverage and give twitch streams to dota 2 and many other games. Now everyone have the access to the E-games viewership on the phones so you don’t need to actually have to go to arena to watch the game but you can watch the game from your home as well
